Voie Verte Roller - La Vaunage (30)

The Vaunage greenway is known in Gard (30), ideal for rollerblading, this greenway is one of the longest in the department. I'll give you some information on this essential greenway.

Connecting Caveirac to Sommières for years, it is now extended to Fontanés, bringing the total length to just over 26km, or a complete round trip of more than 50km.

This long distance is entirely paved, therefore easily passable by rollerblader. The covering is of rather good quality, even if small connections were made here and there because of the roots which had cracked the floor.

The classic:

From Caveirac to Sommières it's a false flat descent, you quickly let yourself be carried away by the speed in this direction, but suddenly the return is harder... especially between Langlade and Caveirac, the end seems interminable in this direction after a back and forth.

Most of the connoisseurs of this greenway park in Calvisson, go to Langlade, leave towards Sommières and return to Calvisson.

If you go Caveirac/Sommières, you pass through Calvisson, with two small tunnels which pass under the road before and after the college. Don't be afraid of the gates at the bottom of the descents of these tunnels, it's okay. Once past the college, you will arrive at the Calvisson stadiums with the skatepark on your left and a few dozen meters further on the pumptrack! A little freestyle break on your hike if the motivation is there...

This section from Caveirac to Sommières has quite a few road crossings, they are well signposted and mostly offer good visibility, but be careful! you are not a priority, be careful when crossing, slow down.

A new part!

From Sommières to Fontanes, it climbs slowly, the difference in altitude is low so it goes well, this section is recent with a great surface.

On this portion, you pass under a fairly long tunnel, you go alongside the Villevieille mill at the exit of Sommières and once past the D6110 which cuts the greenway, a motocross field. Be careful when crossing the D6110, the cars arrive quite quickly.

The most, the less...

The Mosts :

The ground is rather very correct.

We pass through lots of nice little villages.

We see lots of animals and the scenery is superb!

There are quite a few designated rest areas (tables, benches, water points, etc.)

The skatepark and pumptrack on the course for fun.

The lessers :

The small climb on the return between Langlade and Caveirac which finishes your legs at the end of the route (haha)

The many road crossings.
